solve it....

An archaelogist was excavating a site in France where he comes upon 4 lettered english word, he made an entry in his notebook and found that word is of french origin.
Further he noticed that if u replace letters with its alphabetical position( a=1, b=2 and so on)
Sum of all digits ends up to 20. Again he found that addition of any three digits is always devisible by fourth digit.

Find the word?

  1. Hi Kapil,
I think, I got the answer...
    Is it 'JADE'...?

    10,1,4,5...sum is 10+1+4+5=20

    and 10+1+4=15 divisible by 5
    10+1+5=16 divisible by 4
    1+4+5 = 10 divisible by 10
anyhow 19 is divisible by 1..
